1.       Chinese Military Officials Met US, Russian Naval Officials This Week. Senior Chinese military officials held separate meetings with U.S. and Russian naval counterparts during a Western Pacific naval symposium in Qingdao this week, a Chinese defense ministry spokesperson said.

2.       China & Bangladesh Armies to Hold First Military Exercises Next Month: PLA. Chinese army will conduct their first joint military exercises with Bangladesh, named 'China-Bangladesh Golden Friendship 2024' with the drills focusing on counter-terrorism operations and enhance understanding between the two militaries.

3.       Europe Needs to Be Stronger, Not a U.S. ‘Vassal,’ Says France’s Macron. French President Emmanuel Macron made the case for a stronger, more independent European Union, arguing that Europe needs a more credible defense policy to stand up to Russia and not be a strategic “vassal” to the United States.

4.       Ukraine Using Covert US Long-Range Missiles. Advanced long-range missiles that were secretly supplied by the United States have been used in the Ukrainian war for the first time to attack a Russian base.

7.       Pakistan Suffered More from Afghan ‘Imbroglio’ than Wars with India — Special Envoy to Kabul. Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Ambassador Asif Durrani acknowledged that his country had suffered a great deal more due to the volatility in its northwestern neighborhood than its recurrent wars in the east with nuclear-armed India while addressing a conference.

8.       Israel Says it is Poised to Move on Rafah. Israel’s military is poised to evacuate Palestinian civilians from Rafah and assault Hamas hold-outs in the southern Gaza Strip city, a senior Israeli defense official said, despite international warnings of humanitarian catastrophe.

9.       New UK Sanctions Target Iranian Drone Industry.  Britain announced new sanctions targeting Iran’s military drone industry, in response to Iran’s drone and missile attack on Israel earlier this month.

10.      Senior Army Commanders Pay Tribute to DI Khan Martyrs. In a display of solidarity and gratitude, senior army commanders visited the families of eight Customs officials who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty in two separate incidents in April in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said in a statement.

11.      World’s Largest Port Company Shows Interest in Investing in Pakistan. APM Terminals, the world’s largest port company, expressed willingness to invest in Pakistani ports as the company’s representatives visited the Ministry for Maritime Affairs.

12.      Pakistan Rejects Human Rights Report Issued by US State Dept. Pakistan categorically rejected the recently released 2023 Country Report on human rights practices issued by the US State Department, terming its contents as ‘unfair, based on inaccurate information, and completely divorced from the ground reality’.
